Year 9
Year 9
We know you can't plan out your whole life from the options you choose in year 9, but this is a good time to think about what you might want to do in the future. No one expects you to have all the answers and there will be lots of people around to help you.

Take these first steps so you can make decisions about your future education and work:

  • For information and help on making your choices in year 9, check out the Which Way Now booklet which should be available in your school, or have a look at Which Way Now online from Connexions Direct.

  • Your Personal Adviser can also help you with your important decisions.

  • Start your own personal careers file - ask about the jobs people do, how they trained for them, what they like and don't like about their work. Collect articles from magazines and information you’ve found on the Internet. If you have an electronic individual learning plan (e-ILP), you could use this to store the information as you collect it.
