Sexual health and pregnancy

Sexual health

Sex is a normal and healthy part of life. Some people choose to have sex outside a relationship, others wait until they are in a steady relationship. Remember, whatever the pressure, you don't have to do anything you're not comfortable with. And don't forget, the legal age is 16.

Whatever you decide - you should talk to someone about contraception and protection. Unprotected sex can lead to unwanted pregnancies and you are also at risk of getting a sexually transmitted infection (STI). So be safe - use protection.

Pregnancy

If you think you might be pregnant, take a pregnancy test as soon as possible. You can get a quick, free test from contraception clinics and youth advice services. Your GP can also do a test, but only a few practices do instant testing. It's a really good idea to have a test done by a professional service, so that you can get advice and support about what to do next.
