Activity Agreements

The chance for 16 - 17 year olds to:

  • get £30 per week
  • do something they've always wanted to do
  • feel better about themselves and be positive
  • agree the activities and hours to suit them
  • try something new
  • get on with their life

Activity Agreement - what is it?

  • Activity Agreement is the pilot testing out financial incentives for disengaged 16 - 17 year olds, between April 2006 to March 2008. Our Connexions Partnership is one of only eight nationally that is part of the Activity Agreement pilot.

  • Young people who have not been in employment, education or training for 20 weeks or more continuously, and are not on Job Seekers Allowance, are eligible for an Activity Agreement. Care leavers and any young person on financial benefits can attend activities but will not get the £30 allowance.

  • The Activity Agreement includes tailor made activities with a range of providers agreed between the young person and their Connexions Personal Adviser employed specifically to this pilot. The activities could include confidence building, basic IT, food hygiene, basic skills, art, one to one and group activities and job search etc.

  • The young person will get £30 per week (paid into their bank account) if they turn up and take part in the agreed activities. An Activity Agreement can last up to 20 weeks.

  • It's an exciting opportunity to give the hardest to reach young people in our area extra help to move into something more positive. The Pilot will influence the Government's future youth support policies.

We already have the support of our key partners - Learning and Skills Council, Jobcentre Plus, Devon and Cornwall Business Council.
